I went to Aspen Dental because I was new to the area and had a tooth break. The nerve was exposed so I was in a lot of pain. They told me that I needed upper and lower dentures and then gave me antibiotics. I was too trusting and believed them when they told me the broken tooth would stop hurting once the antibiotics kicked in. I returned a week later for my follow-up appointment, expecting to have something done with the broken tooth. Nope--it was only to cast molds for my dentures--on an exposed nerve. I was very frightened and exhausted from many sleepless nights because of my pain. I asked for some topical numbing for the exposed nerve and she said no, I asked about a temporary filling until my extraction date over a month later. She said that wasn't their policy. I asked her what the policy was on patient comfort and she explained they were doing the cast for the dentures. I asked her again what the policy was on patient comfort and she told me they don't give drugs for pain unless they do a procedure. I NEVER ASKED FOR DRUGS!! I let them take the mold, though I was crying through the whole thing. She told me to breathe through my nose when I started gagging and I told her I couldn't because I was crying from the pain so much. The office manager met with me after this and got me an appointment in Appleton (an hour and a half away from my house) so I could get the tooth pulled the next morning. I didn't care how far I had to drive and took the appointment--however, I still don't understand why they couldn't have given me a temporary filling! At the oral surgeon, he tells me there's no reason to get lower dentures, that my teeth are not that bad (and I didn't think they were.) So I call Aspen when I get home and tell them I only want uppers, not lowers. The day before my extraction date, the oral surgeon calls me because they've been in touch with Aspen Dental and they don't know where my temporary dentures are. We both try calling them back after waiting a while, and neither of us get an answer. I drive to the office and walk in--though the girl there tells me they're closed (but the door was wide open? and they're posted as being open?) I tell her who I am and she says yes, she was able to locate my dentures, but they won't be ready until a few hours before my oral surgery. Okay, that's a bit scary--I ask if they forgot about me since it's been a month that they've had the molds. She says no, they're just all at a convention out of town. The next day I show up and without hanging up the phone, she holds out a sandwich baggie full of mouthwash and my dentures. I take them to the oral surgeon and once they're in, discover that if I close the left side of my mouth, I can put my entire pinky finger in the space on the right side. The amount of time it takes to correct this the next day will prove more painful than I can bear. The following morning I' m there on time and the first girl tries nearly 14 times (may even be understating this) before giving up and going to find the doctor. I hear him in the cubicle next to mine having a consultation with a new patient--a gentlemen who had an appointment after mine and who is not in pain--and recommending full dentures...of course. By the time he gets to me, I've started to swell badly from the removal and replacement of the denture. He's really rough and I eventually turn my head so I can take them in and out. While he's putting me through this, he also decides it's a good time to insult me. I told him I thought they had done a rush job on my dentures since they were at convention and that was why the first girl had such a hard time. He makes it clear to me, not once, but twice, how he thinks I was stupid to expect I could pick them up the day before my surgery and not the day of my surgery. The second time was too much for me and I walked out, telling him to keep my dentures and give me my money back. I didn't want to pay someone to torture me while they insulted me.
